Heir to the King: Chapter One - Misfortune

Deren ran up the path to the cottage, eager to show his mentor the spell he'd learned. To think that he was now able to summon the magnificent Raizen was almost unbelievable. As his home came into view, he shouted out, "Master Airn! Come outside! I wanna show you something!"
He reached the cottage as his mentor was walking out the front door. "What is it, Deren?"
"I've learned a new spell! Watch me!"
Deren held his staff out and confidently casted, "Heir Triumphant!"
Light swirled around the end of his staff, then turned black. The darkness shot out of his staff and formed into a blood-red imp. Deren stumbled backwords with fatigue and shock. "Y-you c-can't be R-raiz-zen!"
His mentor, also stunned, stepped foreward, his face now steady. "Deren, stand back. This is Zekial, the Heir of Darkness. His father is the current King Triumphant. I regret not informing you earlier."
Zekial cackled and hissed, "Foolish boy. To think that I once thought you a threat..."
Deren's eyes widened. Zekial noticed his slip and covered it by adding, "You're much too weak for me to even kill! I'll make use of you. Banishing!"
Black light like the light that Zekial was summoned from started to surround him. The last thing he saw was Zekial's twisted, laughing face.

Airn gasped as his young pupil vanished into the darkness. "You just had to bring him to your realm, didn't you"
Zekial laughed again and spoke, "Of course! What else would I do with the weakling called the Slayer? This way his power will side with the darkness."
It was Airn's turn to laugh, though it was a slightly nervous one. "Deren may surprise you. After all, he has the four Kings' suport."
Zekial snorted. "He doesn't have The King's support, though! And neither do you, old man!" A black ray shot out of the Heir's hand. Airn dodged and held his staff out. "Summoning: Fire!" he incanted. Red light burst out of his staff and formed into a flaming lion. "Greetings, my friend." stormed Ryukatan. "So it's my turn to fight, then, is it?" He roared and flames shot up around Zekial. Zekial in turn threw a shadowy knife at Ryukatan. It burst into flame mere inches from him. The flames closed in on Zekial, licking at his clawed hands. Zekial scowled and dissapeared into a burst of darkness. Airn growled and let his hands fall in defeat. The pupil entrusted to him by the Flame King himself was gone, perhaps forever. If Airn had only taught him more...
"Fear not, friend. My father doesn't blame you. And do remember that not all of Zekial's brothers are on his side. Young Deren will have friends even in the Dark Realm." Airn sighed and said, "I suppose you're right, and it won't do any good to worry." Ryukatan nodded in reassurance, then vanished in a burst of flame. Airn solemnly plodded back to his now emptier cottage, wondering if he'd ever see Deren again.

*Gasp* I wanna know what happens next X3
