| Deren almost jumped out of his skin. The place he was standing...this was... "My home." commented Zame, coming behind him, "Do you like it?"" Deren turned around swiftly. "This looks...just like Master Airn's house!" Zame grinned. "It does, you say? Well then, you'll feel right at home! Follow me!" Deren allowed himself to be led upstars to where his room would have been at home. "You'll sleep here. I've filled it with everything you might need. Make yourself comforable and get some sleep. Tomorrow I'll take you back to the hollow." Deren opened the door to his room. Just as he expected, it looked like his room at home. He opened the closet and pulled out a pair of night-clothes. He quickly changed and slipped into the oh-so-farmiliar bed. The similarities of it relaxed him, and he fell asleep easily. Outside the room, Zame worked quietly on the wards. "Muffle! Enshroud! Silencing!" he whispered powerfully. Once he finished, he stepped down the stairs to his own room. He padded inside and curled up in his nest-bed.

Deren woke up with the sunrise, like usual. He looked around him. He was...home. Was it all...just a dream? It felt so real... He got up and dressed, then ran down the staris expecting to see Master Airn sitting at the table with breakfast all layed out. His face fell when he found Zame there instead. Zame's expression was knowing. He pointed to the food with his tail. "Eat up. We'll have to get a head-start on training today." Deren nodded and grabbed a plateful of eggs. As he ate, he pondered his situation again. What are the Darkness spells leading up to Banishing? Purge, Divert, Retaliate, Enshroud, Mask... That's all I know about. There's got to be more. Deren sighed. Zame glanced up at him briefly, as if trying to read his thoughts, then continued eating. Deren finished off his own meal and said impatiently, "So when do we leave?" Zame laughed. "Don't worry, Deren. We'll leave right now. Banishing!" The now-farmiliar black portal opened up, and mentor and pupil walked through.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deren faced the blackened stone. He held his hand in front of him. "Purge!" The darkness seemed to move faster this time. The stone turned white before the darkness broke. Zame nodded appriciatively. "Good job! Keep up the good work! Soon you'll be a pro!" Deren obliged.
"Purge!" The darkness flew easily to his hand. The stone lit up like the sun. Deren closed his eyes, but didn't drop his hand until all the darkness was gone. He carefully threw the darkness back, and the room returned to its dimmed state. Zame laughed cheerfully. "Nice work, Deren. Now to teach you the next spell." Deren pleaded, [color:c9e9=orange:c9e9]"Can we eat lunch first? I've been training all morning!" Zame paused, then nodded. He handed Deren a grilled sandwich. Deren bit into it hungrilly. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Zame quickly whispered, "Silencing! Enshroud! Muffle! Now, Deren, go to the back right corner and stay low." Frightened, Deren obeyed. He turned and stared as Zame opened the door. "Zame? What are you doing here?" the creature said. He looked like a shark with arms and legs. Zame replied icilly, "I could ask you the same question, Zerak." Deren gasped freely, knowing he would not be heard. This was Zekial's brother, The Second! "Well then, I won't innturupt you if you're training. Can't have you falling behind the rest of us! Catch you later, baby brother!" Zerak cackled as he left, the door swinging shut behind him. "Dispel" Zame whispered as soon as he'd left. "Don't worry about him." he added when he saw Deren's face. "Now, let's get back to your training..."
