Yay! This is about the time when Zoids were first piloted by humans, or the Ancient Zoidians. Just to tell you, I may be wrong about some of the evolutions (Zoid evolutions, like Shield Liger to Blade Liger), but logically they make at least some sense.

Part 1: A New Friend

The scorching sun beat down on the sand beneath it. Vultures circled around, waiting for a victim to come along. Footsteps in the sand led to a staggering figure, his hand gripping his wounded side. He had spiky black-brown hair and was wearing a tan-colored tunic with grey pants. Slowly, he made his way onward. Just as his strength was giving out, he thought he saw a cat-like Zoid coming towards him...

Mark awakened slowly. He was in a sand-colored room laying on a soft bed. He started to sit up, but winced as his side stung. He layed back down more slowly. A girl walking by looked in, surprised. She was also wearing about the same outfit he had, only with a little blue lining. "Oh, you're awake? What were you doing to get yourself in such a bad shape anyway? You're lucky you were able to get to the village before you collapsed!"
Mark blinked. "I didn't see a village..."
He shot upward, remembering, and doubled over. "Easy now! You're still hurt!" the girl exclaimed as she helped him lay down again.
Mark spoke almost to himself, "It was the Helcat. It must have brought me here."
The girl stared at him strangely. "A Zoid wouldn't have saved you. You must have been fooled by the heat. Like a mirage, or something."
Mark calmed down. "Maybe." He frowned slightly. "But it looked so real. And I know I didn't see a village."
The girl replied, "Heat does that. Do you want some food?"
Mark's stomach grumbled in reply. The girl laughed and exited the room. Birds chirped outside while Mark waited.
A Guysack, a scorpion type Zoid, had chased him and injured him. He was fortunate to have been able to escape and get close enough to the village that the Hel... the villagers could assist him. As this thought came to his head, he told himself, Zoids only hurt people. They wouldn't save anyone...
The girl returned with a tray full of fruits and bread. Mark eyed it hungrilly. The girl laughed again and handed it to him, watching him as he wolfed it down. Before he'd finished, she said, "Glad you like it. By the way, I don't think I got your name."
Mark finished and replied, "My name's Mark."
The girl smiled and replied, "I'm Ferona. Nice to meet you, Mark." She hesitated, then added, "You should be fit to walk by now."
Mark sat up slowly. Maybe it was thanks to the food, but it didn't hurt. He tried standing and was rewarded with sucess. Ferona smiled at his recovery. She spoke, "If you want, you can look around the village. It isn't much, I know, but it's better than being cooped up in here."
Mark nodded and started out. It was a boring-looking village, with dust-colored houses and plain decorations, but it reminded him of his own village. Suddenly, he heard the sound of gunshots. Turning a corner to find the source, he saw the Guysack that had injured him facing off against a few men with guns. As she watched, he could easily see that the guns weren't going to work on the Zoid. He just wished he could help them. The Guysack knocked three of the men over. The fourth dropped his pistol and ran past Mark screaming. As the Guysack advanced on him, he found that he couldn't move. The massive Zoid raised its claw to strike.
A shot fired from behind Mark and hit the Guysack square in the face. While the Guysack was recovering, a silver and golden Zoid jumped in front of Mark. The Helcat from before... The Guysack shook off the hit and fired at Mark's rescuer. It jumped out of the way, the shot narrowly missing Mark. The Helcat seemed to realize this, because it charged the Guysack before it could fire again. It tried to grab the Helcat with its pincers. The Helcat jumped over it and landed on the other side facing its back. Mark watched awefilled as blades suddenly popped out of the Helcat's back and slid into position on its sides. The Guysack raised its claw again to strike, and the Helcat lurched foreward, slicing off the claw with a clean cut. It slid to a stop only a few feet away from Mark, sheathing its blades. The Guysack turned and crept away from the village. The Helcat faced Mark. Some of the other villagers ran out and yelled at Mark, "Get away from that thing! It's dangerous!"
He ignored them and walked up to the Helcat. "That's twice you've saved me now, isn't it, bud."
The Helcat growled its assent. It leaned down and let Mark pet its head, then opened its cockpit. Mark's eyes grew wider and he said disbelievingly, "You want me to ride you?"
When it didn't respond, Mark hopped in. The straps automatically locked him in place and the cockpit closed. Mark smiled and said, "Let's go!"
The Helcat took off and ran into the desert. Mark started laughing and whooping. The Zoid finally returned to the village and let Mark out. It stood beside him as the villagers came out to see them. Ferona was there as well and asked him, "Where will you go now that you're healed?"
Mark turned to the Helcat. "I think he and I are going to travel around for a while. Right, buddy?"
It nodded. Mark frowned and said, "I'll have to give you a name then...how about Zaber?"
It nodded again. Mark smiled and stated, "Well, Zaber, I think we'll make a great team!"
He jumped back into the cockpit and they left the village with the sun setting behind them.

((Yay! And, 2 hr delay today!))

Should I post my next "episode" now or not? Type yes for me to post it on 3/1 and no for me to wait a while.

lol, this is way later than 3/1, but anyway, here's the second episode. I'm getting back into Zoids, so I'll work a little more on it, at least.

Part 2: Pilots

The sun rose on the horizon, illuminating the sleeping forms of a silver Helcat and a boy, the former curled around the latter. The Zoid soon awoke and yawned, getting up and shaking itself a bit. With the shade offered by the Helcat gone, Mark woke up as well. "It's time to get moving, I guess. Breakfast won't cook itself," Mark said yawning. He took his portable stove out of his Zoid's storage compartment and started it up. Also removing a dry food packet, he poured some canteen water into a pan, emptying the packet into it as well. While it cooked, Mark watched Zaber walk around making sure his legs weren't damaged at all, and that his combat system was back to its normal level. by the time he was done and Mark turned back to the stove, his meal was done cooking. He ate it with haste and packed everyting back up. He jumped into Zaber's cockpit. The Helcat shook again before starting to walk into the desert again. They hadn't gone far before they came face to face with a tall wolf-like Zoid. Mark tensed up and got ready to fight. Suddenly, the Zoid's cockpit opened up and a man jumped out. "So you're a pilot too, eh?" he said. Mark jumped out as well and replied, "Who are you? And what's a pilot?"
The other man sighed and replied, "The name's Irvic, and this is my Command Wolf, Snipe. To answer your other question, pilots control their Zoids in combat."
"Like an airplane?" Mark asked.
"Yeah, sort of." Irvic hopped back in his Command Wolf. "Let's fight."
Mark cringed and his eyes widened. "Wait, what?"
"I said, 'Let's fight, kid!" Irvic said impatiently.
"But I don't know how to control a Zoid!"
Mark heard another sigh. "All right, kid. I'll let you off this time." Mark let out a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a shot landed next to Mark. He exclaimed, "Why does this always happen to me?!"
Irvic called, "Five Molgas heading this way!"
Mark leaped into Zaber. The two pilots faced the Molgas square on. The Molgas shot first, Zaber and Snipe both getting hit. Snipe jumped to the side and shot back. Mark heard Irvic yell, "Don't stand there like a sitting duck, move!"
Mark desperately grabbe the two handles beside him and pushed them foreward. To his surprise, Zaber started running foreward. He ran straight through the Molgas. Irvic yelled, "What do you think you're doing? Get back here!"
Mark pulled back on the left handle and turned around. Zaber's instinct took over and he fired a few bullets at the Molgas in front of him, taking two down. With only two left, Zaber and Snipe both leaped on top of them and tore their guns off. The Molgas retreated again. "I thought you didn't know how to pilot a Zoid, kid," Irvic said over the comm system.
Mark replied, "I didn't when I said that, and stop calling me kid! My name's Mark!"
Irvic laughed. "Let's go, kid." he said, emphasising the word. Mark grumbled but stayed silent. The two pilotted their Zoids together farther into the desert.

Yayz! Can you guess whose anscestors they all are?
