A creature settles itself onto a branch of a large oak tree, content to wait for them to show up, he flaps his wings once and has his tail grip the branch so he doesn't fall off, then the creature closes his eyes and seems to fall asleep, time passes, unknown to how long, then a snap rings though the forest, the creature opens his eyes and looks around to spot a group of children marching though the forest, in the lead a large boy, a member of that last group, the only one that still comes to listen, he waits until they are right below the tree and speaks, his voice a low raspy sound
"hello children, how nice to see you, i did so hope you all would come today"
the elder boy looks up and frowns
"why can't we catch you asleep, you have to sleep some time"
the creature laughs, a bubbly sound, then he releases the branch and settles down among the roots of the tree, the children press forward and he hugs them all before sitting down on the soft grass and smiles, then he turns towards the elder
"you all make too much noise, i tell you this time and time again, makes no noise what so ever, now what story shall i tell you all today children"
the elder, rebuked, makes no comment on what story to listen to, the rest of the children begin to whisper among themselves before turning and speaking as one to the creature
"we want to hear about the Demon of the mist, and how he saved all of the world"
the creature nods, figuring that they would what to hear that one at some time, he settles himself some more before looking out at the clear blue sky, the wind blows slightly and he smiles into it
"aah that one, i was wondering when you would ask for it, but it is too long to tell in one sitting, now give me time to remember and i shall start"
He closes his eyes and begin to recall the story of his life, and all of the pain that comes with it, slowly the bits and pieces of the tale come to mind, when he finally has it all together, he shifts himself again before clearing his throat
"This all started long, long ago, before the age of man, when the world was still young, demons of every size and shape were in power, ruling everything with an iron fist, human were slaves, forced to do tasks that demon would never humble themselves to do, that's when a demon started to rise though the ranks, of course, he started out as bad as all the rest, killing to get his way and such"
the creature then pauses for breath as the children get pulled into the story, he look around and smiles, it's good to see children have such happy lifes, then he clears his throat and begins to tell the rest of his tale
